A golden October is helping Europe keep the worst of the gas crisis at bay for now, with much of the continent basking in summer-like temperatures over the weekend.

Recession risks remain high nonetheless, halfway through the third-quarter earnings season, as companies struggle with soaring staffing costs and accelerating inflation. Germany’s Fresenius SE was the latest to succumb, warning on Sunday that its net income will probably slide about 10% this year.
