Global Projects Left in Chaos as Rubio Proclaims USAID Cuts Done
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has proclaimed mission accomplished after canceling almost all programs run by USAID in a chaotic review that sometimes saw hundreds of international assistance projects terminated in a single day and thousands of staff meant to monitor or administer them fired or put on leave.
In a social media post, Rubio wrote that after a six-week review he was “officially cancelling” 83% of programs run by the US Agency for International Development and would put the rest under the purview of the State Department.
