Lucrative Transatlantic Flights at Risk as Trump Roils Trade

A week before US President Donald Trump unveiled sweeping global tariffs, executives from Europe’s biggest airlines gathered in Brussels and provided an upbeat outlook for travel demand between the two continents this summer.

“Let’s not be misdirected by the obvious strains we have on the transatlantic relationship,” Deutsche Lufthansa AG Chief Executive Officer Carsten Spohr said on a panel with other airline leaders. In terms of demand for international vacations and customers’ desire to visit friends and family overseas, “the relationship has never been healthier.”
